A new beginning for Mama Pendo!
Thanks to the support of our wonderful donors, Mama Pendo, a widow with six children, finally has hope for the future. For years she struggled alone to support her family. Now, thanks to our donors, she's starting her own shop!
With a small starting investment and guidance from the Ashe Foundation, Mama Pendo can develop her entrepreneurship. She learns how to manage her income, attract customers, and grow her business step by step. This way she creates not only a stable source of income for her family, but also an inspiring example for other women in her community.
Research shows that when you help one woman, an entire community changes. Women invest their knowledge and income in their children, family, and neighbors. The impact remains tangible for generations. Mama Pendo's success is a beautiful example of this.
But we're not there yet. There are still so many women, families, and villages in the Maasai region who deserve a chance at a better life.

The cooking oil that Mama Pendo sells is a traditional product that has been made in Tanzania for generations. This oil, made from cow fat and sunflowers, is an essential ingredient in many local dishes.

We will continue to provide updates about Mama Pendo's shop on this page. Mama Pendo will also continue to receive guidance from the Ashe Foundation to keep her business successful. The guidance will mainly consist of advising on purchasing traditional cooking oil and the long-term vision for her shop.
